Nagpur: Singers belted out a number of old and new Hindi songs at a programme titled ‘Hum 7 Saath Hai’, organized by
Survandita music group at Scientific Society Hall, Laxmi Nagar, on Friday.
Gopal Iyer set the ball rolling with the first performance of the evening, ‘Deva Shri Ganesha’, from the movie Agneepath. Listeners tapped their feet to the upbeat number ‘Chadhti jawani teri’, presented by Bhagyashree Badwaik and Darvekar.
The trio of Raghuraman, Darvekar and Iyer hauled up the energy with a dynamic performance on ‘Kajra re kajra re’ and ‘Aa dekhe zara kisme kitna hai dum’.
Sakhi Sahu and Nair enthralled the young audience with ‘Saree ke fall sa’. A sentimental ‘Main aur meri tanhai’ was presented by Raghuraman and Darvekar. ‘Haal kaisa hai janab ka’ by Badwaik and Nair took the audience to the golden era of Bollywood.
The musical extravaganza also featured guest singers Unnikrishnan who is called Yesudas of Nagpur, Sanjeev and Sangita Jagtap, Prashant Thakare, Anshu Buty, Vandana Deshbhratar, Rajesh Samarth and Prashant Waliokar.
These singers presented songs like ‘Teri tasveer ko seene se’, ‘Yamma yamma’, ‘Bane chahe dushman zamana hamara’ and ‘Dost dost na raha’, among others. Their performances were followed by a felicitation ceremony.
All the singers then presented a medley of songs ‘Desh hai veer jawano ka’, ‘Ude jab jab zulfein teri’, ‘Nagade sang dhol baje’, ‘Tera rang balle balle’, ‘Ho jayegi balle balle’, ‘Masti bhari raat hai’ and ‘Zindagi milke bitayenge’.
The singers were accompanied by Pawan Manwatkar (keyboard), Prakash Chauhan (lead guitar), Robin (bass guitar), Vishal Dahasahastra (octopad), Deepak Kamble (dholak) and Pankaj Yadav (tabla).
Earlier, the show was inaugurated with the lighting of a traditional lamp by director of finance at Western Coalfields Limited (WCL) SM Choudhary, technical director, WCL, Manoj Kumar, chief engineer at Mahagenco, A Harne, Akhil Pande from Eros, Sanjeev Sahu and Praful Deshmukh.
The show was conceptualized by Uma Raghuraman and Hemant Darvekar. Pushpa Anand and Vijay Jathe were present. Manish Nair anchored the show.
