Families submit petition to Collector

Families of the three teenage girl victims of Hajipur, petitioned District Collector Anita Ramachandran on Saturday requesting expedited justice.

Parents of the girls said in the submission, that the sole accused, Marri Srinivas Reddy, now in Warangal Central Prison, should be booked under the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, 2013 (the Nirbhaya Act).

The other four demands are compensatory in nature or suggesting preventive action through better amenities. “Each of the three victim families should be given ₹ 50 lakh compensation, a government job for one member of the family, and the land owned by the accused be distributed among us,” they demanded.

The demand for a bridge construction over the Shamirpet vagu remains a long-pending one, also of the villagers, to ease transport facility to Bommalaramaram mandal and the connecting villages.
