VIJAYAWADA: Results for the AP Education Common Entrance Test (APEDCET) 2019 were released on Friday. Addressing the media, Andhra Pradesh state council of higher education (APSCHE) chairman S Vijaya Raju said that 11,419 candidates have qualified of the 11,650 who had appeared for the exam in the month of May.
While 14,019 students applied for the exam, 2,369 candidates did not turn up for the test held across 56 centres in the state. The test focuses on five subjects - maths, physical sciences, biological sciences, social studies and English. P Pallavi and S Bhudevi secured first and second ranks in maths. In physical sciences, SV Sai Chandrika and S Gopal stood first and second respectively. P Maniteja and G Loknath Reddy secured first and second ranks in biological sciences while S Naga Sujatha and L Venkatesh came first and second in social studies. Similarly, S Hari Kumar and D Uma Shankar were the top two for English.

Raju said candidates can download their rank cards from May 18 from the APEDCET website and the counselling would begin in the first week of July.
While clearing APEDCET allows students to get into B.Ed courses, lack of candidates this year has left over 33,000 seats across 500 colleges. The numbers can further rise if the qualified candidates choose to take other courses.
