Some ‘bigwigs’ in Andhra Pradesh are providing shelter to former chief executive officer of TV9 new channel V Ravi Prakash, Telangana police said.
“Like IT Grids CEO Ashok Dakavaram, we suspect even Mr Prakash is hiding in AP. He can’t leave the country, as Cyberabad police seized his passport,” a senior police officer said.
On May 11, Mr Prakash left his car at MoJo Newschannel office in Banjara Hills and got into a separate car and went towards Vijayawada, the officer said. Despite repeated calls from The Hindu, there was no response from the top brass of Cyberabad police, including DCP (Crimes) Rohini Priyadarshini and other officials.
However, sources confirmed that the cyber crime team is making efforts to collect more evidence against Mr Prakash in connection with forgery and cheating case registered against him.
Police said that head of TV9’s human resource department Shankar appeared before them for questioning. Mr Prakash for the third time ‘refused’ to respond to the notices issued by the police. Meanwhile, a list of emails exchanged between the accused in the case went viral on social media.
On April 24, director of Alanda Media and Entertainments (P) Ltd. P. Kaushik Rao approached Cyber Crime police alleging that Mr.Prakash, Tollywood actor Shivaji and others forged documents. Based on the complaint lodged by Mr. Rao, Banjara Hills Police registered a case against Mr. Prakash, M.V.K.N. Murthy and Hari Kiran Chereddi.
In his complaint, Mr. Rao stated that the accused transferred the valuable copyrights and trademarks of the company for meagre false consideration, against the interests of the company to cause loss to the firm and its shareholders.
