With Computex 2019 only weeks away, AMD is making headlines for all the right reasons, a recent leak courtesy of renowned Thai hardware leaker TUM_APISAK reveals critical details of the upcoming Ryzen 3000 chips.

TUM_APISAK recently took to Twitter, posting specifications of what he believed to be an engineering sample of a 16-core Ryzen CPU.

From the post, you can tell that this alleged Ryzen CPU features 16 cores and could support multi-threading for a total of 32 threads with a base clock speed of 3.3GHz and a 4.2GHz boost speed.

If the numbers are accurate, then expect a significant improvement in performance and speed of the upcoming Ryzen CPUs. Additionally, the alleged CPU was tested on a motherboard based on the recently announced X570 platform controller.

However, APISAK’s engineering samples may have preproduction clock speeds as AdoredTV leaked different speeds on the Ryzen 3000 series chips that reached a maximum boost clock of 5.1GHz. This would be a standard move by AMD to mask the new chip’s identity.

While AMD is yet to confirm all the leaks, enthusiast and developer Ryzen’s DRAM Calculator utility, Yuri Bubliy recently tweeted that the upcoming 3rd Gen Ryzen chips based on Zen 2 architecture would support DDR4 RAM at up to 5000MHz with overclocking, which is a significant bump in performance compared to last generation’s Ryzen 2700X that maxes out at around 3400MHz.

There has long been speculation that AMD would launch a 16-core, 32-thread Ryzen 9 series to compete with Intel’s high-end Core i9 CPUs. And, while AMD hasn’t provided any details on the Ryzen 3000 series; we could hear about the new chips at Computex 2019, where company CEO Lisa Su is set to deliver the event’s first keynote.
