Four contestants in Kaveripura, 15 in Sagayapura

The scrutiny of nominations for the by-elections on May 29 in two wards under the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) — Sagayapura and Kaveripura — ended on Friday evening.

The death of councillors V. Elumalai of Sagayapura, and former Deputy Mayor Ramila Umashankar of Kaveripura, had necessitated the by-elections.

Four nominations were accepted in Kaveripura ward while 15 were accepted in Sagayapura.

In Kaveripura, Pallavi C. of the BJP, Susheela N. of JD(S), and independents Tejaswini and Kamalamma are in the fray.

In Sagayapura, A. Jayarim (BJP), Palaniammal (Congress), and independent candidate Marimuthu are among the candidates in the fray.

The Congress will be contesting from Sagayapura, and the JD(S) from Kaveripura.
