As part of its 53rd State conference, the Kerala Gazetted Officers Association (KGOA) will provide houses to nine flood-hit families in the district.
KGOA office-bearers said here on Friday that the construction of houses was progressing in the district. ‘‘We are constructing nine houses, one each in nine Assembly constituencies in the district. Our aim is to hand over the keys to beneficiaries at the State meeting of the association to be held later this month,’’ said, V. Jayakumar, general convener, KGOA.
Facilities
Each unit with two rooms, kitchen, hall, toilet and other facilities is being constructed at a cost of ₹5 lakh.
“We are providing houses to the most deserving people in the district. The houses constructed are 450 to 470 sq ft in area. We are materialising the project with donations from members of the association,” he said.
Following the August deluge, the KGOA had actively participated and contributed towards the rescue and relief operation in Alappuzha and other flood-affected areas in the State.
