Teacher, friend threaten toll staff by pointing toy gun, flee; held day after

Gurgaon: Two youths, including a school teacher, were arrested on Thursday for allegedly threatening a toll collector by pointing a toy gun and fleeing without paying the fee at Kherki Daula toll plaza on Wednesday night. Kashish Lamba (23) and Mohit (27) have been booked under IPC Section 506 (criminal intimidation) and sections 25/54/59 of the Arms Act at the Kherki Daula police station.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the duo showed a toy gun to avoid paying toll. After the incident on Wednesday, toll plaza manager Amit Singh lodged a police complaint, reporting that the two youths were stopped in lane number 19 at 9.40pm.
The entire incident was recorded on CCTV, and the toll staff handed over the footage to police. The footage showed a white car coming from Manesar and moving in the direction of Gurgaon. The car was stopped at the Kherki Daula toll plaza, and the two passengers (one in the driver’s seat and the other in the seat next to it) were asked to pay the toll.
At this, the footage showed, the duo got out of the car and started threatening the toll collector.
The man, who was on the driver’s seat, brandished a ‘gun’ and then walked straight to the toll barrier while his companion took the driver’s seat. The former lifted up the barrier and urged his companion to drive. They left the scene in the car without paying toll. Acting on the complaint and the footage, police launched search parties to locate the accused. During their investigation, police found out that the car was registered in the name of Mohit, a school teacher in a private school at Farrukhnagar. The search team nabbed Mohit from Hero Honda Chowk. He revealed the whereabouts of his companion, Kashish, who was arrested from the premises of a private company in Sector 18.
During their interrogation, the accused revealed that they had met at a coaching institute around two-three years ago and became friends. Kashish has been pursuing an MBA in Kerala, and was in the city for a training at a private institute.
Mohit is a physics teacher, and on Wednesday, he was driving towards the city from Manesar to drop Kashish at his rented accommodation in Sector 17.

Several instances of violence have been reported at the Kherki Daula toll plaza in the recent past.
Last month, a toll collector was dragged on a car bonnet for almost three kms as he tried to stop a driver who was making a getaway without paying toll.
