Noida: The transport department on Wednesday sent a notice to Paytm asking it to remove
Mahamaya flyover and other points on Noida-Greater Noida Expressway as boarding points for buses as it leads to congestion. Paytm has been asked to remove the points by Thursday evening.
“We had given one day to Paytm to remove the boarding points, as not doing it would mean aiding an illegal activity. They have asked for three days’ time to completely remove the points. But for most days’ bookings, the option has not been removed from the application,” said Himesh Tiwary, assistant regional transport officer.
The notice to Paytm mentions that such operation of all-India tourist buses is against their permit conditions and is an offence under section 192(2) of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988 and under Section 188 of IPC.
“You are offering and showing
Mahamaya flyover, Noida as one of the boarding points for the passengers travelling from Delhi/Noida to eastern UP and Bihar. Passengers booked through Paytm gather around Mahamay
flyover that causes traffic congestion/jam on the expressway and defeats the sole purpose of Noida-Greater Noida Expressway that is smooth flow of traffic,” states the letter.
A Paytm spokesperson said no illegal stops reflected in the application. “We do not show any illegal stops in the application.
Bus operators who accept bookings through Paytm mention pick and drop points and need to make the changes. We are checking if there is anything we can do at our end.”
