VIJAYAWADA: Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, on Thursday, accused the Election Commission (EC) of being biased towards the
BJP and working against non-BJP and non-NDA parties.
Naidu posted four tweets on his twitter handle alleging that the
EC was working to favour the BJP and its leaders.
“It’s high time that the ECI acts on the complaints made by opposition parties to restore its credibility and fulfil its constitutional mandate of conducting free and fair
elections,” Naidu said.
He further said that the ECI was working at the behest of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah. “Giving clean chits to Narendra Modi, while taking unjustified prompt action after false complaints by the BJP, wilful inaction on genuine complaints by opposition parties; clearly raises doubts about the neutrality, impartiality and fairness of the Election Commission of India,” Naidu said in his tweet. On the firm stand of the EC against counting of the VVPAT slips along with the EVM votes, the chief minister said that the attitude of the EC was disturbing. “It is even more disturbing to see conspicuous inaction of the ECI regarding the complaint of 22 political parties of the opposition, to validate EVM counting with the counting of at least 50% of VVPAT slips in each assembly constituency,” he said.
