Coimbatore: In two separate incidents, burglars made away with 28.5 sovereigns of gold ornaments from two houses at Avalchinnampalayam and Suleeswaranpatti near Pollachi on Thursday.
In the first incident, burglars broke open a house at Pon Nagar at Suleeswaranpatty and decamped with 17 sovereigns of gold ornaments from the house. The Pollachi East police said Dhanalakshmi, 45, and her husband Nachimuthu of Suleesaranpatti, went for work at their agricultural field in the same locality on Thursday afternoon.
When the couple returned home in the evening, they found the front door lock of the house broken open. They also found 17 sovereigns of gold ornaments missing from the house. Based on Dhanalakshmi’s complaint, the Pollachi East police registered a case under sections 454 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code. Further investigation is on.
In the second incident, burglars entered the house of A Gunasekaran, 55, at Avalchinnampalayam by breaking open the front door. Gunasekaran, who was working as a supervisor in a soap manufacturing company, had gone for work when the burglary took place. His wife had also gone for work in an agricultural field while his daughter was in college.
Unidentified people took away 11.5 sovereigns of gold ornaments from the house. Based on Gunasekaran’s complaint, the Kottur police have registered a case and further investigation is on.
