Aam Aadmi Party chief spokesperson and MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj and others took out a march in CR Park in South Delhi on Thursday evening against the alleged dictatorship by the BJP in West Bengal.
“People in Delhi and across the country are very disturbed by state of events in West Bengal. The BJP is busy performing the old trick of spreading hatred among people. The Central government has arm-twisted all institutions into harassing the elected State governments,” Mr. Bharadwaj said.
He said that the BJP and the Central government left no stone unturned to stall and delay works related to public welfare that were being carried out by the Delhi government. “The Centre even tried to create administrative breakdown in Delhi by sponsoring illegal strike of IAS officers,” he said. “What is happening in West Bengal is extremely serious and clearly shows that our democracy is in danger.”
Mr. Bharadwaj said that the Election Commission of India failed in the impartiality test and its oft-repeated slogan of level playing field was reduced to a “joke”. “Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is openly saying that Bengal is a classical case of breakdown of constitutional machinery... this is a clear threat that if the Modi-Shah pair returns to the throne, then a President’s rule is going to get imposed in West Bengal,” he said.
He alleged that BJP goons were taken to Kolkata to unleash violence during BJP national chief Amit Shah’s roadshow on Tuesday evening.
“It is extremely shameful the bust of one of the greatest reformers, Shri Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, was destroyed,” Mr. said.
