Tamil Maanila Congress president G.K. Vasan on Thursday praised the AIADMK government in Tamil Nadu for implementing a variety of welfare measures for the State.
Addressing an election campaign in support of AIADMK candidate S. Muniyandi in Tirupparankundram Assembly constituency, he said Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam were being simple and approachable leaders.
He highlighted the government’s scheme of distributing ₹ 1,000 to all family card holders during Pongal festival and the proposal to deposit ₹ 2,000 to families below the poverty line. He said that Tamil Nadu was doing well compared to other States in education and other sectors.
He blamed DMK for preventing the implementation of ₹ 2,000 cash deposit scheme and the conduct of local body elections through filing litigations in the court. He alleged that the party was making false assurances to the public with proposals for unimplementable schemes.
He said that DMK president M.K. Stalin meeting with Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao was political opportunism. He also criticised Makkal Needhi Maiam founder Kamal Haasan for his recent comments that the first terrorist of independent India was a Hindu.
