A 70-year-old sex offender has been jailed for raping a woman with Down syndrome who was 30 years younger than him.
Russell Clissold lured the victim into his Thomson unit in Geelong where the assault occurred, after approaching her at a Moorabool Street bus stop at about 7.45 am on September 13, 2016.
The woman had an IQ of 46, meaning she struggled to communicate with Clissold and had a limited understanding of sex, the court heard.
Clissold was senteced to 12-and-a-half years in jail at the County Court on Thursday and will be eligible for parole after nine-and-a-half years.
A decade before, Clissold was jailed for five-years after committing a very similar offence, the Geelong Advertiser reported.
Clissold had followed the woman when she got off the bus and engaged her in conversation.
CCTV footage showed the pair walking into the Thomson unit at about 9am and walking out after the rape. He dropped her back in central Geelong about 1pm.
Judge Michael McInerney said Clissold must have a strong desire to commit offensive acts with 'people of intellectual disabilities'.
'Clearly there is some aberrant passion held by Mr Clissold that excited him about disabled people,' Judge McInerney said.
The judge's comments were backed up by police footage of Clissold masturbating in a car, while watching children from a special needs school playing near Norlane's Stead Park in May 2016.
He raped the victim less than four months later and was found guilty of committing two acts of rape and three sexual assaults.
There was no evidence Clissold struggled with any mental health problems.

Clissold denied claims of rape and said the victim had consented to the sexual acts.
But the jury heard the woman told a friend she told Clissold 'no' and had attempted to walk away.
Judge McInerney said he had genuine fears Clissold would commit similar offences again.
