Thursday was a trip down memory lane for over 50 persons who were part of Kannada theatre in the ’70s, often called the ‘golden era’ of theatre.
The release of a memoir on Kannada theatre of this period by Mohan Ram N.K. brought all of them together at Ravindra Kalakshetra.
Veterans, including Ha Sa Kru, T.N. Seetharam, J. Lokesh, ‘Make Up’ Ramakrishna, B.S. Anantharam, S. Nagesh, recounted the days they spent on the steps of Ravindra Kalakshetra, characters they essayed in plays, including iconic ones like Tuglaq, Sattavara Neralu, and Hayavadana.
Many young theatre activists and writers participated in the event. According to the author, his book Curtain Call Ge Lighte Baralilla is an attempt to document the history of amateur theatre of Karnataka in ’70s and ’80s.
