The second edition of the International Children’s Film Festival of Kerala (ICFFK) drew to a close here on Thursday.
Inaugurating the valedictory session, filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan said that the Kerala State Council for Child Welfare had succeeded in creating a platform that enabled children to watch films suited for their viewing. He advocated steps to screen children’s films at schools on a regular basis.
Exposure
Mr. Gopalakrishnan also stressed the need for exposing children to modern techniques in filmmaking at a young age.
He lauded the festival organisers for providing the delegates with practical exposure to filmmaking.
Turn to the Nature, directed by Devukrishna S. Nath, was selected as the best film from among four films that were produced by the participants of the festival. Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) chairman M. Vijayakumar presented her the award. Gokul L.L. and Neha Unnikrishnan were presented with the awards for best actor, male and female, respectively.
Kerala State Council for Child Welfare general secretary S.P. Deepak; treasurer G. Radhakrishnan; executive committee members K. Raju, Pasupathy, and O.M. Balakrishnan; vice president Azhikodan Chandran; joint secretary Bharathy; and Balasree award recipient Madhurima were present.
Governor joins kids
Earlier, Governor P. Sathasivam turned up to watch a film along with the participants. Accompanied by his wife Saraswathi Sathasivam , Mr. Sathasivam watched the 3D film, Aquaman, at the Kalabhavan theatre. He said the festival witnessed a mix of children from various social backgrounds, providing each one of them rich experience of the world around them. While the annual festival had concluded, the memories and lessons imbibed by them would remain throughout, he said.
