Leopard allegedly sighted in Aundh, creates panic

PUNE: A circular has been issued by security section of Controllerate of Quality Assurance (Engineer) office or CQAE in Aundh asking people to avoid lonely spots in CQAE premises after one wild cat (leopard) was noticed by them behind Defence Standardisation Cell office building on May 13 at 9.30 am.

The news resulted in the panic among the residents of Aundh and Sangvi areas. Forest Department team that rushed to the spot on Thursday claimed no pugmarks of leopard were found in this area. 

When contacted, Deputy Conservator of Forest A Sree Laxmi told Sakal Times, “Our team has searched the area but we did not find any pugmarks of leopard in this area and the one surrounding it.” Sree Laxmi urged people from Aundh and Sangvi areas to avoid panicking. She added that the Forest  Department’s team is on alert mode and has so far not found any activity of leopard in the surrounding areas.
