3 of family stuck in lift, rescued after half an hr

Noida: A three-member family, including a three-year-old child, was trapped for half an hour in a lift in their society, before being rescued by two neighbours and a security guard. The incident took place in J tower of RG Residency society in Sector 120 on Tuesday night.
Two days later, on Thursday, a 67-year-old resident was stuck in the same lift on the eighth floor of the same tower, this time for 10 minutes.
In the first incident, Waseem (36), his wife Shaziya (29) and their son Haider returned home after shopping and entered the lift on the ground floor at 11 pm. The lift stopped abruptly on the sixth floor.
Waseem called the reception via the intercom but it was not functioning, he said, adding that he pressed the emergency alarm but it drew no response. He tried to check if the CCTV camera was recording, but said it wasn’t working. He contacted the customer care of the elevator manufacturer, but the representative, he said, took 15 minutes to take details.
Waseem reached out to his neighbours. “My child had started sweating. I called up Nitin and Shiv Awasthi (his neighbours). They tried to pull the door apart but it was tightly closed,” he said.
He said the duo called a guard. After 10 minutes, the men managed to open the lift around 11.30 pm.
The family called up the PCR and alleged officers refused to come saying the “matter had been settled and they were out”. “They said there was no need for them to reach the spot. When I insisted, they arrived but refused to lodge a complaint against the builder,” Waseem said.
Phase III SHO Harinandan Sharma said the police station did not receive information about the incident.

In the second incident, HS Negi, a heart patient with high blood pressure, was stuck on the eighth floor. Reiterating what Waseem said, Negi said the intercom and the alarm both didn’t work. He was rescued by neighbours and a guard after he cried for help.
Rajesh Goyal, MD, RG Group, didn’t respond to calls and texts.
