Mass drug overdose at Gold Coast hospital
Police are investigating a mass drug overdose at a secure unit of a Gold Coast hospital, Queensland's health minister has confirmed.
During question time on Thursday, opposition health spokeswoman Ros Bates asked Health Minister Steven Miles if "there was a major security breach at the Robina Hospital that resulted in multiple drug overdoses, with patients taken to intensive care and police sniffer dogs called in as part of a major police investigation".
Mr Miles confirmed police had found "an empty package that likely did contain a substance that some patients had consumed" last week and he said they were investigating.
More to come.
