Madhya Pradesh man elopes with married woman, is tied to tree and thrashed

A man who allegedly eloped with a married woman was tied to a tree and beaten up in Dhar, according to a news report. So were two members of his family. The police say five people have been arrested.

A man said to have eloped with a married woman was tied to a tree in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh, with two other members of his family on Tuesday. They were beaten up.

One of the eloper's two relatives was a minor.

An image posted by ANI, which reported the story on Thursday, May 16, showed at least two people tied up -- in public, and in broad daylight -- and surrounded by a small crowd.

ANI said this happened in Arjun Colony.

CSP Sanjeev Mule said a case had been registered.

The police have arrested five suspects, and more people will be caught soon, he said.

Dhar is located in western Madhya Pradesh, and is a little over an hour's drive from Indore.
