BMC chalks out plan to tackle dog menace with NGOs’ cooperation

Bhopal: Representatives of animal lovers and NGOs attended the meeting convened by the BMC Commissioner to chalk out a work plan to tackle dog menace and five of them have been made members in work plan committee.

Commissioner said that food and water facility for the street dogs will be arranged with the cooperation of citizens soon. BMC Commissioner informed that registration and licence process of pet dogs will be started from May 15. Representatives of NGOs and animal lovers also gave several suggestions in the meeting and expected to make AVC programme effective.

A meeting to check street dogs menace, chaired by Divisional Commissioner Kalpana Shrivastava held in the State capital on Tuesday. BMC officials, NGO representatives, animal lovers participated in the meeting to discuss about dogs menace in city.

Commissioner Shrivastava directed Animal Husbandry Department to complete headcounts of pet and street dogs along with domestic animals till the end of this month. Shrivastava asked the BMC Commissioner Vijay Datta that work plan should be made for street dogs vaccination, sterlisation and rehabilitation under AVC programme.

She said that the animal lovers should also participate in this work. She said that awareness camps should be organised on ward level. BMC Commissioner Vijay Datta said that keeping in view the security of human life a better work plan will be made and work should be done to check street dogs menace.
