Time to empty the mind. Look out.

• With Diman Regional and Durfee High sizzling on the baseball diamond, I was excited to check the schedule to see when the teams were playing each other. Heading into Wednesday's games, Diman was 10-0, Durfee 9-1. This would be the unofficial Fall River city championship.

Alas, the Bengals and Hilltoppers don't play anymore. Haven't for a couple of years. Too bad.

• Tourist site non-recommendation. Ben and Jerry's factory tour in Waterbury, Vermont. Food processing-wise, you see way more at the Cape Cod Potato Chips tour in Barnstable and that tour, last I recall, is free. The B&J tour starts with a six-and-a-half-minute movie that's three-and-a-half minutes too long. You do get a little free sample at the end. All in all, not worth even the modest cost ($4 adults, $3 adults; 12 and younger free) and certainly not worth making a long drive for.

• I like Janey Silvia's style. A Somerset Berkley Regional student, she played on Bishop Stang's co-op girls' hockey team. For her Herald News all scholastic photo, Janey wore a Stang hockey jacket, with a Somerset Berkley shirt clearly visible beneath. There's someone who thinks things through.

• After reading one of my Facebook posts about unmatched socks, former Diman Regional basketball standout Dave Costa (very high shot-to-assist ratio) replied with this suggestion: "Separate hampers. That saved my marriage."

• Who was your favorite golfer from the 1970s? I was a big Tom Weiskopf fan. (John Schlee would be an honorable mention.)

• What cracked me up when I attended my first pro golf event at Pleasant Valley CC up in Sutton was how much on-course smoking by the players went on during non-televised rounds on the PGA Tour. Is it like that anymore? Probably not since just about everything is televised.

• One last golf item. Brad Faxon still owes me 10 free throws.

• How I miss Big John Studd.
