Pune: 28-year-old held for rape & blackmail

PUNE: The Chikhali police on Wednesday arrested a 28-year-old man for raping a 19-year-old girl for the past three years. The suspect also blackmailed the girl by threatening to widely circulate her obscene videos and photographs.
The girl approached the police on Wednesday and lodged an FIR. The suspect has been arrested under the Indian Penal Code, Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and Information & Technology Act.
The woman told the police that the suspect had been stalking her since 2016. “The woman also stated that he repeatedly raped her after threatening to kill her family,” an officer said.
The woman alleged that the suspect had recorded videos while she was in a compromising position.
Molestation case
The Wakad police on Wednesday registered an offence against a worker at a washing centre for sexually harassing a 26-year-old woman on Tuesday night.
