Collector V. Anbuselvan on Wednesday ordered the detention of S. Velan, 41 of Valavanur, under the Tamil Nadu Prevention of Dangerous Activities of Bootleggers, Goondas and Video Pirates Act.
The accused was involved in several cases in Cuddalore district.
The police arrested him recently and recovered 40 sovereigns of gold jewellery from him. Following a request from Superintendent of Police P. Saravanan, the Collector ordered his detention under the Goondas Act to curtail his continuous involvement in criminal cases.
