CHANDIGARH: In 32 minutes, three robbers cleaned up a shop of Rs 3 crore jewellery in Sector 44 after holding the owner hostage on Tuesday night, CCTV footage has revealed.
Footage from adjoining showroom showed the three robbers entering the showroom at 8.17 pm and coming out at 8.49pm. The list of robbed ornaments is yet to be submitted by Harshdeep Bedi (45), the owner, who is injured and undergoing treatment.
Police said Bedi, who was the only person inside, had kept the jewellery in the locker and was about to switch off the lights when the accused barged into the showroom. They hit him with the butt of a pistol and tied him up. Police said the accused also took away his .2mm pistol but left his double barrel gun. Bedi, in his complaint, had said the accused had disconnected the CCTV cameras.

Police said the footage showed the three accused came on foot without covering their faces. When they were going back, one of them was carrying a bag and his face was covered, while another was trying to hide his face under a cap. However, the turbaned man had not covered his face at all. The accused appeared calm and confident after the robbery. Police said they might have parked their vehicle at some distance from the crime spot.
Police said they are gathering dump data of mobile phones from 8 pm to 9 pm of the area to get clues about the accused. However, 24 hours later, police have failed to make any headway in the case so far.
