Coimbatore Corporation officials on Tuesday seized eight kg banned plastic items from stalls at the government exhibition in Gandhipuram.
According to sources, a team of officials led by Sanitary Inspector K. Ramu seized the items from nine shops. The raid and seizure was based on specific information that the stalls at the exhibition sold banned items.
Though the officials seized the goods they did not impose fines but let them off with warning.
The sources also said that after the seizure, the team approached the officials organising the exhibition for making a public announcement to caution the stall owners to not use or sell the banned items.
