Injury cloud hovers over Jordan De Goey

Collingwood star Jordan De Goey is in doubt for Saturday's clash against St Kilda as the forward battles a lower leg complaint.

The silky forward didn't complete Collingwood's main training session on Thursday.

The Pies have already ruled out forward Jamie Elliott after hamstring tightness after last week's win over Carlton.

Collingwood have a host of midfielders pushing for selection but the potential loss of Elliott and De Goey will force them to re-think their forward set-up.

"He’s been battling with that lower leg soreness for the majority of the year," coach Nathan Buckley said about De Goey.

"We would have expected him to finish today’s session so the medicos will have a look at that.

"At this stage we’re likely to select him and give him a little bit more time.

"We definitely thought he was going to do the session today. He didn’t complete it."

Collingwood also confirmed that Mason Cox won't be ready to return on Saturday.

Dayne Beams is expected to return for Collingwood after missing one match with a hip complaint. The Magpies will also consider James Aish and veteran Chris Mayne.

Buckley said De Goey's current complaint was not the same as the bone stress problem that forced the Magpie to miss matches late last season.

"Players don’t play at 100 per cent fit, and he hasn’t been 100 per cent fit, but he still gets out and does his job," Buckley said.

"It’s related but it’s not a bone stress. Without giving you his full medical records he’s battling through something at the moment.

"It’s definitely been tracking in the right direction until this week. It’s a bit sorer this week."
