A fire erupted at a dumpyard inside the Sanjeevaiah Park on Necklace Road on Wednesday, creating panic among civic officials for a few hours. The fire began in the morning at the heap containing plant waste and dry leaves. The cause of fire was not known, officials said.
The disaster response teams of GHMC swung into action, and made efforts to put off the fire before two fire tenders were pressed into service. The situation was soon brought under control, an official statement said. There has not been any loss of life or property.
