A team of four students from the Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) are in the process of climbing peaks of several mountain ranges in India.
A release issued by MAHE here on Wednesday said that they began their first phase of expedition to summits in south India on May 11 and have completed a number of them in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu.
Their plan is to climb the peaks around the country in four phases over four years during semester breaks around this time. They have also included some of the peaks in Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Maharashtra as well in phase one.
‘Tiranga Damodar,’ as the adventurers call themselves, was flagged off by MIT Director Srikanth Rao on May 11. The students plan to hoist a tricolour atop every peak.
The present trekkers are: Mihir Kolekar, Naman Lawania, Ankit Jajoo and Ankit Agrawal and the ground support is being provided by Tanya Singh, Delicia Gonsalvis and Vinitha.
