The Redmi Note 7 and Note 7 Pro were launched on February 28 in India and have been running off the shelves since then.
Xiaomi’s successful run in the Indian smartphone continues as Redmi has reported sales of over 2 million of its budget smartphones Redmi Note 7 and Note 7 Pro that were launched in February earlier this year.
Last month, the company announced that both these smartphones recorded over a million units in sales within the first month of their launch. For celebrating the feat, Xiaomi has teased a new smartphone with a 48MP primary camera.
The Redmi Note 7 and Note 7 Pro were launched on February 28 in India and have been running off the shelves since then. The smartphones which were only available through flash sales have proven to be a hit amongst consumers looking for a budget smartphone.
Looking at its popularity, Redmi decided to keep the Note 7 on open sale in April. The Redmi Note 7 Pro is, however, still available through flash sales.
On account of the milestone, Xiaomi India MD Manu Kumar Jain has teased a smartphone with 48MP ‘for everyone’. This could possibly mean that the company could launch the much-rumoured Mi A3 with a 48MP primary sensor.
Xiaomi recently teased a smartphone with three cameras at the back. Prior to this, Jain also teased a Xiaomi phone with the latest Qualcomm’s 7 series chipset. Qualcomm recently announced the Snapdragon 730 mid-range processor which could make its way to the upcoming Mi smartphone.
There have been a bunch of reports speculating the specifications of Mi A3 in India. The Mi 9x in China is rumoured to launch in India as Mi A3. It could sport a 6.4-inch AMOLED Full HD+ screen with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and water-drop notch on top.
The Mi A3 could come with an in-display fingerprint scanner as reported previously. The Android One device could run on a Snapdragon 710 or 730. Based on Xiaomi’s recent teaser, rumours about the Mi 9x coming to India as Mi A3 further strengthens with the former having a triple camera setup. The Mi 9x is rumoured to have a 48MP primary sensor with a 13MP ultra-wide angle lens and an 8MP lens. The front camera would include a 32MP sensor with face unlock support.
The Mi A3 is expected to come with an average-sized 3,300 mAh battery and 18W Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging support. The device is rumoured to boot on Android One based on Android 9.0 out of the box.
