The Telangana Congress will represent to the State Election Commission to complete the process of electing the Zilla Parishad chairman immediately after the results are announced to avoid horse trading.
TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy questioned the reason behind conducting the ZP chairman elections after more than a month of announcing the MPTC and ZPTC election results. The gap was to allow the ruling party to encourage defections from other parties, he said.
“We will meet the State Election Commission and represent to him either the postpone the counting of votes till July 5 or conduct the ZP chairperson elections immediate after the results are announced,” he said at a press conference here.
Mr. Reddy who earlier addressed the meeting of DCC presidents and senior leaders asked them to be vigilant during the counting of votes. He asked them to follow the guidelines given by the AICC on the counting process and don’t leave the counting hall till the entire election result was announced.
