12-year-old boy brutally thrashed, found from bushes

Rajkot: In a mysterious case, a 12-year-old boy was found with brutal injuries from the bushes behind Bucharvada port in union territory Diu on Thursday.
The victim, identified as Vikas Gujaria, was apparently beaten up mercilessly by some unidentified assailants who inflicted injuries with sharp-edged weapons on his face, head and private parts.
“Vikas’ father Vanraj told us that Vikas had gone missing since Wednesday evening and he was found by labourers on Thursday morning. So seriously injured was the boy that he was first rushed to Diu primary health centre and then from there to Rajkot Civil Hospital, where his condition is said to be critical,” said Nagin Patel, sub-inspector with Diu police station.
“We suspect that the boy might have been abducted by those who wanted to sodomize him and when he resisted their attempt, they might have thrashed him. We are waiting for the boy to gain consciousness to record his statement,” said another official from Diu police station.
