Minister for Fisheries, and Personnel and Administrative Reforms D. Jayakumar on Thursday said that DMK president M.K. Stalin’s denial of having alliance talks with BJP was ambiguous.
Addressing media during election campaign in Tirupparankundram Assembly constituency here, he said that Mr. Stalin had only offered to quit politics if it was proven that his party was having talks with the BJP. “He has not openly said that he did not have talks. He is only demanding proof,” he said. Alleging that DMK was only after power and money, he said that the party would not hesitate to shift camps any time.
On the recent controversy surrounding Makkal Needhi Maiam founder Kamal Haasan’s remarks that the first terrorist of independent India was a Hindu, he said that the public would have appreciated had he expressed regret for his comments. The Minister added that since the actor-politician had not done that, he must face the consequences.
He criticised Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam for its attempt to bring down a government formed by late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.
