2,040 IMFL bottles seized; one arrested

Accused in police custody
Rajkot: Police arrested a bootlegger and seized 2,040 bottles of Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 6.12 lakh from a truck on the outskirts of Visaman village of Padadhari taluka in Rajkot district on Thursday morning.

The accused was identified as Vijaysinh Jadeja. “He is a history-sheeter wanted in five bootlegging cases. We kept a watch in Visaman village after receiving tip-off that Jadeja was supposed to come there to take delivery of the liquor cache,” said J V Vadhiya, sub-inspector with Padadhari police station. However, the truck driver and other accused had fled before police raided the spot.
The IMFL cache was hidden in a secret cabin inside the truck. The secret cabin was cut open with the help of an electric chain saw. “During interrogation, Jadeja said that a bootlegger from Rajasthan, identified as Sonu Marwadi, had sent the liquor supply. Jadeja revealed the names of 10 co-accused in the case,” added Vadhiya.
