Electronic appliances damaged

Tirupur: Heavy rain-triggered electricity fluctuations damaged electrical and electronic appliances in 70 houses at Alanthur panchayat near Cheyyur in the district on Wednesday night.
Downpour combined with heavy wind lashed the district on Wednesday night. Due to heavy voltage during the rain, electrical and electronic appliances besides electrical meters were damaged in Alanthur.
A villager said more than 500 people are residing in 100 houses in Alanthur. Tangedco has given electrical connection to the houses from tapping high voltage line connected to a private spinning mill. The village witnessed power fluctuations six months ago.
Tangedco has directed officials to conduct an inspection to find out how many houses were affected due to power fluctuation. It has promised to take appropriate action on it.
