VIJAYAWADA:
Ilapuram Raja took oath as new
information commissioner for
Andhra Pradesh.
Governor ESL Narasimhan had delegated his powers to
chief secretary L V Subrahmanyam to administer the oath of office to the new information commissioner.
Raja, an engineering graduate from the city and management post graduate from US, has been into business and social services for over three decades. He is also active in the formation of Kummara Salivahana Federation of the State government and is closely associated with several BC organisations. With his father, former MLC Ilapuram Venkaiah, he also heads Ilapuram Seva Samithi, which serves the poor students in the schools and colleges by providing scholarships and helps poor patients in the government hospitals every year. He is also the chairman of the Nataraj Music and Dance Academy, which organises cultural programmes in the new capital city every year.
Earlier, Raja served as member of the Central Board of Film Certification and the Food Corporation of India.
