Nadigar Sangam (South Indian Artistes Association) president actor Nasser said retired Justice E. Padmanabhan would be the Election Commissioner for the upcoming Nadigar Sangam election after an emergency executive council meeting was held in Chennai on Tuesday.
Mr. Nasser said Justice Padmanabhan would decide the venue and date on which the elections would be held. “We will formally request him to take charge. We have three venues in mind and he will decide on the date and venue,” he said.
Mr. Nasser added that the same team comprising actors Vishal Krishna, Karthi Sivakumar and himself would contest the election again.
Heat on Vishal
Actor Udhaya, who was a close associate of Mr. Vishal Krishna last time around, said he would contest against him for the post of general secretary.
Speaking to The Hindu, he said he wanted to contest against Mr. Vishal because of his unsatisfactory performance as the general secretary.
“The current administration is one of the best. Nasser sir and Karthi sir have worked tirelessly for the Nadigar Sangam. However, many are unhappy with Vishal’s performance,” said Mr. Udhaya.
