Perth (Australia), Indian Men’s Hockey team slumped to a 0-4 defeat to World no 2 Australia in their fourth match here at the Perth Hockey Stadium on Wednesday.
After remaining unbeaten in their first three matches, the World no 5, India failed to regain the momentum it had hoped for.
Australia’s Blake Govers (15’, 60’) and Jeremy Hayward (20’, 59’), both scored a brace each to help the World no 2 team in defeating the visitors. Australia were awarded Penalty Corner in the 15th minute and star forward player Blake Govers gave his side 1-0 lead.
For India Birendra Lakra came close in the 19th minute, but the deflection from his hit went wide off the post.
In the second quarter Australia were 2-0 when Jeremy Hayward’s PC ended up conceding their second goal in the 20th minute.
India went close in the 24th minute from its third PC of the match but Jake Whetton came up with a vital block to deny the visitor the opening goal.
