Depressed man commits suicide

Allahabad: A day after an elderly man ended his life in Kaushambi, police on Wednesday said the deceased had been depressed for the past few months after being diagnosed with cancer.
SDM (Sirathu) Joyti Maurya said, “The deceased Haran Lal was a farmer based in Dalsahia (Saini). On Tueday, he ended his life by hanging himself. Lal was diagnosed with cancer two years ago and had been reeling under depression over the last couple of months.”
In his report to Saini police, Lal’s son Raj Gulab Singh alleged that his father had been depressed and the mental trauma drove him to take the extreme step.
The SDM said that officials have also recorded the statements of Lal’s family members and neighbours. tnn
