National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) activists staged a protest in the city on Tuesday condemning the alleged delay in issuance of caste and income certificates for students.
Addressing the protest, Ravi Kumar G., president, NSUI Shivamogga Rural unit, said that as furnishing caste and income certificates was necessary for enrolment for first year PU and bachelor degree courses at first grade colleges, students are thronging taluk offices and common services centres to get them. There are complaints from students of inordinate delay in issuance of income and caste certificates in the name of verification, technical glitches and problems related to servers. He said the delay has created apprehension among the students.
Mr. Kumar said that, to address the problem, special counters for issuance of caste and income certificates for students should be opened at every taluk office in the months of June and July when admissions for various courses will be held.
The protesters also submitted a memorandum to Girish, Shivamogga tahsildar, in this regard.
