Aravakurichi: The Tamil Nadu police Tuesday filed an FIR against actor-politician Kamal Haasan for his controversial "free India's first extremist was a Hindu" remarks referring to Nathuram Godse, as saffron organisations moved the courts in Delhi against the actor-politician.
After Kamal Haasan was booked for his comments on Nathuram Godse, his party Makkal Needhi Maiam has reacted, saying, "This has been taken absolutely out of context and the speech has been painted as anti -Hindu, with a malafide intent. This has created complete confusion and utmost anxiety amongst many common citizens who are not privy to this larger conspiracy."

The West Bengal chief minister accused the BJP of bringing 'miscreants' from other states like Bihar and Rajasthan and spending crores of rupees to put up cut-outs for Amit Shah's road show.
Meanwhile, the Trinamool Congress has sought a meeting with the Election Commission alleging that ABVP supporters barged in to the nearby Vidyasagar College at Shankar Ghose Lane and damaged college property. They also took down a statue of Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar, a noted philosopher and a key figure of Bengal Renaissance, and set a couple of motorcycles on fire.
Attacking the prime minister over the issue of communal clashes, Mayawati alleged, "I have also been a chief minister and people still praise my administration. PM Modi had been a CM for a longer period but he was always anti development. During my tenure as CM there were no riots in UP but under Modi, Gujarat and then the country, has seen riots and communal clashes."

West Bengal Chief Minister and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee has announced a protest rally against the vandalisation of Vidyasagar's bust. Warning the BJP, Banerjee has claimed retaliatory violence targeting the BJP’s offices would take no time. “I can reach you in Delhi also. I will not spare anyone who broke Vidyasagar’s statue and damaged college property,” she added.
TMC to Meet EC: The Trinamool Congress will meet the Election Commission of India today after Tuesday's clash between Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) members and Trinamool Congress Chhatra Parishad (TMCP) supporters during the roadshow of BJP chief Amit Shah in Kolkata. Shah, who escaped unhurt, had to cut short his road show. "There was an attempt by TMC hooligans to attack me. Mamata Banerjee tried to provoke violence. But I am safe," he has alleged.
