Redmi GM confirms the name of their flagship device carrying Snapdragon 855

Weibing on Weibo had asked users to choose one of the four names for Redmi’s upcoming top-end smartphone.

One of the most anticipated devices lately has been the Redmi flagship that would run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 855. The smartphone has been surrounded by several reports based on rumours revealing certain specs including its name. Redmi GM Lu Weibing has finally unveiled the name of Redmi’s most premium offering.

Weibing on Weibo had asked users to choose one of the four names for Redmi’s upcoming top-end smartphone. The options that were given included K20, P20, T20, and X20. Weibing has now confirmed that the company’s flagship would be called as Redmi K20. The GM further added that the ‘K’ in K20 would stand for ‘Killer’ as the series would comprise of performance-focused smartphones.

There have been reports that suggest Redmi would launch two variants of the hyped Redmi device. Popular tipster Ishan Agarwal revealed that Redmi would launch a Pro variant alongside the standard K20.

The Pro variant could sport a 6.39-inch Full HD+ with a resolution of 1080*2340 pixels. It would run on Snapdragon 855 SoC paired with 6GB/ 8GB RAM and have storage options up to 256GB.

In terms of camera, it is rumoured to have a triple rear setup with 48MP + 13MP + 8MP sensors. At the front, it could have a 32MP sensor for selfies like the one found on Redmi Y3.

Xiaomi’s GM Lu Weibing has teased a Redmi smartphone with an in-display fingerprint scanner. The standard variant is also expected to have 4,000 mAh battery with support for fast charging.

The device is expected to come to India as Poco F2. Redmi India has teased a smartphone with a 48MP camera on account of over 2 million sales of Redmi Note 7 and Note 7 Pro. It is speculated that the Poco F2 could have the same 48MP sensor as teased.
