AHMEDABAD: With the forecast predicting light rain or thundershowers in Banaskantha, Rajkot, Amreli and Kutch districts on May 15 and 16, the weather in the city will likely be affected. Ahmedabad on Tuesday was the second hottest city in
Gujarat, at 41.5°C, after Surendranagar (41.8°C).
According the the forecast of the
India Meteorological Department (IMD), these districts of north Gujarat and Saurashtra could see thunderstorms and
lightning at isolated places, with 30-40 kmph winds over the next two days. For Ahmedabad, the minimum and maximum temperatures were close to normal. Eight IMD weather stations in Gujarat recorded temperatures higher than 40°C. The IMD website states that there will be no large change in maximum temperatures over the region. The recent upper-air cyclonic circulation had brought respite to parts of Gujarat with cloudy weather and sporadic spells of rain.
Sources said that maximum temperatures will remain in the 41-43°C range in the city.
