Transporter found murdered in car

Victim’s car in Khodiyarnagar in which his body was found on back seat
Vadodara: A 42-year-old transporter was found murdered in his car in Khodiyarnagar on New VIP Road on Wednesday noon.
Dalchand Khatik found dead by his brother-in-law. Khatik, who lives near Kotambi with his wife and two daughters, had started from his home around 4 am. His brother-in-law Ramu said that Khatik had told his family members to be ready within an hour as they were to leave for Rajasthan. Khatik was returning home from Karelibaug.
When he did not come home, his wife called up Ramu to search for him. Ramu searched for him in Karelibaug and was going towards national highway-48, when he spotted Khatik’s car near Khodiyarnagar around 11.30 am. Khatik was lying on the back seat and when Ramu checked, he was already dead.
Harni police reached the spot and sent Khatik’s body to SSG Hospital for postmortem.
During autopsy, doctors found that Khatik had rashes on his neck which were caused due to a rope. “The rashes were not visible immediately, but during postmortem doctors saw them and concluded that he had been strangled,” said inspector B M Rana of Harni police station.
Cops then lodged an offence of murder on the basis of the doctor’s report.

While the offence was lodged against unidentified persons, Ramu alleged that Khatik had been murdered due to financial reasons. “My brother-in-law had Rs four lakh cash with him when he left from home, but when I found his body he had only Rs 200 in his pocket,” he said.
Police said that they are not ruling out any possibilities and have already started the probe by checking Khatik’s call records and his locations after he had left from home in the morning.
