Bhopal: Exams result is not the end of life, say experts

Bhopal: The outcome of any examination is nothing but a routine affair and examinees should keep away from thinking that it is the end of life, said counsellers, psychiatrists, teachers, parents and students in the city. Results neither decide the future of a candidate nor judge his or her merits and demerits, they said. They shared their views with Free Press on the eve of announcement of MP Board results over how children can deal with disappointments and or overexcitement. According to the experts the students who fail to perform better than their peers in the exams- at times begin to feel that they are all but ruined.

To handle such situation, parents should avoid telling off the children for their failures and tell them to steer clear of feeling frustrated, they said. Radhika Solanki, who appeared in Class XII exam told Free Press, “I am thrilled, but nervous about the result. In case, I fail or get less mark than what I expect, I shall keep up hope. In fact, I messaged this to all my friends and advised them not to be nervous or take any wrong steps because we are not alone. Our parents, friends and teachers are with us.” “I think, result is only a piece of paper. We have skills and intelligence, so we can do well in life. There are personalities galore- who were backbenchers and scored less marks, but they are now successful. It is not always true that, students who topped in the exams can do anything,” Solanki added.

Brajesh Verma who is a teacher in government school and his sons appeared in Class X and XII exams said, “My sons are happy and are not in stress. In fact, they are waiting for the results with excitement. We didn’t pressurise them. We are ready to accept any outcome. I know that all children are not same. So we should support them and motivate them because it is not the last exam of their life.” “We only wish that our daughter should pass with good marks and excel in her life. That’s all. After all, our children are our priority and not marks,” said Krishnapal Singh Rajput whose daughter Aditi appeared in class 10 exam. Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) will release Class 12 and 10 exam results at the Model Higher Secondary School, TT Nagar Bhopal at 11am. The result will also be available on its official website mpbse.nic.in.
