Prime Minister of India and
Mayawati is one of the candidates.
"These issues will be decided after the results on May 23. There are only 3-4 parties who are in a position to decide. And, of course, the mahagathbandhan (SP, BSP and RLD) will have an important role in choosing the PM," he said in an interview to TOI. Asked if he or his alliance partners are looking at formation of a non-Congress government, he said that such a decision would only depend on the results. "The synergy between these three parties, workers and voters is incredible and unbelievable. And when we go there, the crowd is enthusiastic" he said Singh, who once served as defence minister in UPA 2, remained non-committal on whether he would see himself as a cabinet minister in any government but insisted that he would support the consensus on Mayawati as next PM.
