Women of Virudhachalam's Alladi protested against the autorities for failing to address their water related issues.

Alladi municipality of Virudhachalam was facilitated with borewell and an overhead storage tank, for the 300 inhabitant-strong village.
As the municipality faced water shortage for a few weeks, the supply was given only twice a week. The officials allegedly have turned a blind eye to the issue.
Women of Allandi took to the roads with their empty pitchers and staged a road-obstruction protest. The women complained that the minimal water they receive is also contaminated with limestone causing kidney related ailments to over 10 villages. The protestors disbanded after the police pacified the situation.
