After a flurry of leaks and teasers, OnePlus has finally unveiled its latest flagship smartphones called the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro. This is the first time the brand has introduced two handsets at the same time. While the OnePlus 7 is a modest upgrade over the OnePlus 6T, the Pro model is the brand’s most loaded offering to date. The latter also marks a few firsts for the phone maker in the display, design, and camera departments.

The OnePlus 7’s price in India has been set at Rs 32,999 for the base variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, while the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage option has been priced at Rs 37,999. As for its more expensive sibling, OnePlus 7 Pro prices in India for the 6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256GB, and 12GB + 256GB variants are Rs 48,999, Rs 52,999, and Rs 57,999, respectively. The former comes in Nebula Blue, Mirror Gray, and Almond colours, while the latter in Mirror Gray and Red hues. Launch offers include benefits worth Rs 9,300 from Jio on monthly recharge of Rs 299, 6-month no-cost EMIs, cashback of up to Rs 2,000 on SBI credit cards, and assured buyback value of up to 70 percent from Servify.

The two smartphones goes on sale in India on May 15th from the company’s pop-up stores in seven cities in the country. The OnePlus 7 Pro 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB variants in Mirror Gray colour will be on open sale starting May 17th via Amazon.in and OnePlus.in as well as OnePlus Exclusive stores as well as partner offline stores. The OnePlus 7 Pro 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 256GB variants in Nebula Blue colours will be up for grabs on May 28th. Lastly, the OnePlus 7 Pro 8GB + 256GB in Almond colour as well as both the OnePus 7 variants and colour options will become available in June, though no date has been provided yet.

Talking about the higher-end OnePlus 7 Pro first, the phone sports a premium metal and glass sandwich design. The handset offers a truly all screen fascia thanks to a pop-up selfie camera. The device gets a new haptic vibration motor to deliver multiple levels of vibration feedback while gaming. The phone also flaunts a new 10-layer liquid cooling system to keep the heat down while offering maximum performance. A new feature called Horizon Light alerts users of new notifications when the screen is turned off.

Moving on to the other specifications, OnePlus 7 Pro boasts of a large 6.67-inch AMOLED display with QHD+ resolution and HDR 10+ display; the screen is curved this time around, which the company is calling Fluid AMOLED. The main highlight of the phone’s screen is 90Hz refresh rate, which delivers smoother animations and scrolling through apps, as per the brand. Software-wise, the handset boots Android 9 Pie-based OxygenOS out of the box. The new version of OxygenOS is loaded with a handful of new features. Powering the OnePlus 7 Pro is Qualcomm’s 7nm fabrication process-based Snapdragon 855 processor that offers a clock speed of up to 2.84GHz. The company claims the new processor will consume 20 percent less power and deliver 45 percent better performance.

At the rear, the device sports a triple camera setup comprising of a 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor with f/1.6 aperture and 1.6-micron pixel size, a 16MP f/2.2 117-degree wide-angle shooter, and an 8MP f/2.4 telephoto lens that supports 3x zoom, backed by OIS, EIS, and dual LED flash. For selfies, there’s a 16MP f/2.0, 1-micron shooter, housed in a pop-up mechanism that comes out from the top when you need to use it. The handset’s camera app also gets features like OnePlus UltraShot algorithm, HDR+, and Super Resolution.

Connectivity-wise, the OnePlus 7 Pro offers 4G LTE, dual-SIM slots, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, a USB Type-C port, and A-GPS with GLONASS. Fuelling the handset is a 4,000mAh battery that supports the phone maker’s new Warp Charge 30 technology that can charge the device quickly at 30W power input.

Coming to the OnePlus 7, the phone offers the same design as its predecessor. The phone is equipped with a smaller 6.2-inch Optic AMOLED display featuring a resolution of 2,340 x 1,080 pixels. The device comes in two RAM and storage variants – 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB. In the camera department, the handset has two sensors at the rear – a 48MP f/1.7, 0.8-micron shooter and a 5MP f/2.4 depth sensor. For selfies, the phone gets a 16MP f/2.0 selfie camera, which is placed in a waterdrop notch above the screen. Just like its bigger sibling, the OnePlus 7 also gets power from a Snapdragon 855 SoC and boots the latest OxygenOS version. Lastly, a smaller 3,700mAh battery with 20W fast-charging completes the list of the specs.

Common features between the two include the quicker in-display fingerprint sensor, dual stereo speakers, and Ultra Shot. Both the handsets also have RAM Boost, which is said to make loading apps quicker. The two are also the first in the industry to use the new, faster UFS 3.0 flash storage. There’s also a new screen Recorder with support for external sound through the microphone and a Zen Mode that locks your device for 20 minutes so you can focus on something else. The company says the two phones are water-resistant for everyday use, despite the lack of an IP rating.
