The Supreme Court, on Tuesday, granted conditional bail to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) youth wing worker Priyanka Sharma on tendering a written apology for putting an objectionable picture of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on social media.
“I can't express how happy I am. I am awaiting my daughter's return,” ANI quoted Raj Kumari Sharma, mother of Priyanka Sharma, as saying.
After the apex court’s decision, the family of Priyanka Sharma erupted in joy.
Priyanka Sharma was arrested in West Bengal's Howrah district for allegedly sharing a morphed picture of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on social media, police said on last Friday.
"Priyanka Sharma has been arrested for sharing a morphed picture of the CM," a police official said, reported IANS.
A complaint was lodged against Sharma at Dasnagar Police station.
In morphed image of Banerjee, Priyanka Sharma allegedly used Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas's image at the MET Gala event. The theme for this year's MET Gala was 'Camp: Notes on Fashion'.
