Nagpur: With the arrest of two miscreants, Sitabuldi police have cracked six cases of theft and burglaries and recovered stolen items, including a car, worth Rs 6.03 lakh.
Addressing a press conference on Monday, senior PI of Sitabuldi police station JN Rajput said, “Both the accused have four offences each registered against them at different police stations. The accused are currently in police custody remand (PCR). We’ll try to increase the duration of the PCR to investigate the matter thoroughly.”
The accused have been identified as Ajay alias Ajju Warkhade and Roshan Pache. In the wee hours on Saturday, Sitabuldi police, while patrolling, spotted a car which was moving suspicisouly in the area. When asked to stop, the driver of the car increased the speed following which the patrolling party started tracking the vehicle.
The driver of the car tried to dodge the cops, but he failed. He first dashed the car against three rickshaws and later, rammed the vehicle into a pan kiosk.
In no time, the cops, with the help of some nearby residents, nabbed the car driver who identified himself as Pache. Cops remembered him and took him to the police station. During questioning, Pache spilled the beans. He confessed to stealing the car with the help of Ajju after committing a burglary at a house in Beltarodi on Friday.
Apart from the booty, the accused also stole the car keys before fleeing with the vehicle. The accused had kept the stolen items at a friend’s place because they had plans to commit another burglary by using the stolen car.
However, the duo’s plan was foiled by cops who intercepted them during night patrolling. Pache was nabbed first and later Ajju. Cops cracked the other cases of thefts and burglaries after questioning the accused. Ajju was recently released on bail in a burglary case.
Police recovered several items, including an LED TV, a car, gold jewellery and other items. “ We are currently trying to find out if the duo had committed any other crime in the past two months,” added the PI.
